Take a look at 2H-D’s thumb owls. Aren’t they a Hoot! Our second graders were so excited to get their hands (thumbs) in some clay.. Finally! They did an awesome job! I love the personality packed in each one. So unique and special, just like each of you. Students enjoyed rolling, pressing, and pinching the clay to create the body, head, ears, and beaks of their owls. We used tools like marker caps, for our owl eyes, and tooth picks for the textured feathers. We enjoyed creating Visual Texture on a three dimensional clay surface.
Next step, color! We can’t wait to add glaze to our lovable owls. Lesson inspiration came from Artsmudge.
