3rd Grade, I am Poems

We began this lesson by defining and exploring LINES! In this lesson, students drew 7 different repeating lines. We then added color, through the use of bright tempera paints. My 3rd graders have bright personalities, and since these works of art were all about their personality, neon paint seemed fitting. After our paintings were dry, students went over their lines with a sharpie and began adding their descriptive words using our I am Poem format. I love exploring identify as a big idea in art. I learned so much from reading and listening to the conversations my 3rd graders had while creating their descriptive poems.

Enjoy these bright, thoughtful, and expressive works of art, created by Ms. Cohn’s 3rd grade Artists.

I AM.. One proud Art Teacher! : ) Inspiration for this lesson came from, We Heart Art. Enjoy Exploring.
